Part-time Budding Taste Tour Guide

Are you an expert on a food tradition and would like to share this with the world? Would you like to invite tourists into your home or lead food excursions to off-the-beaten-path restaurants in New York City?

Budding Taste is looking for talented, energetic individuals to develop and share food cultures in New York City. The mission of Budding Taste is to offer guided meals to expose participants to ideas of food practices that exist within the city. This includes sub-regional cuisines, political food practices, medicinal/nutritional meals, taste preferences, religious meals, and other cultural ways of eating.

Ideal candidates will work with Budding Taste to develop his/her gastro-tour. This may be an existing excursions or an entirely new meal tour. Tour guides may invite participants into their homes to share their food culture or take participants to restaurants within New York City. Once the tour(s) become available to the public, the frequency of excursions will depend on demand. We are seeking individuals with the following characteristics:

  • Energetic and entertaining personality
  • Comfort with speaking publicly
  • Knowledge about current trends in food culture
  • Flexibility with frequency of tours provided (i.e. once a week to once every six months)
  • Ability to deal with unexpected situations and go with the flow
  • Ability to problem-solve
